Commentary
Jeu du Solitaire (in Spanish "Solitario", alluding to the type of card game in which the player believes he is solving a problem in whose approach and outcome, in fact, only chance intervenes ), is a short piece, of marked character and great violinistic difficulty, in which various technical resources come together, always at the service of maximum expressiveness.
In this way, in the first section of the piece a series of elements are exposed, sometimes complementary, sometimes strongly contrasting, which in the second part are subjected to an elaboration that, in a way, makes this section a
double or variation. from the first. As with any musical work, once these elements have been put into play in the score, it is up to the interpreter to reflect on their interconnection
alone, identifying with their character and their development, and making the whole set up in a broad monologue. in which two different beings, the composer and the performer, must end up seeming to be one for the listener who, equally
alone, wants to delve into the music and try to make it their own.
Jeu du solitaire was composed in the summer of 2012 at the request of the violinist Miguel Borrego, to whom it is dedicated and who premiered it at the 9th Mostra Sonora of Sueca (Valencia), on May 12, 2013.
